A steering committee comprised of village tenants, councillors and special interest groups is to govern the Tauranga Historic Village for the next nine months.
The Historic Village.
The decision was made at a Tauranga City Council meeting on Monday, attended by a delegation of village tenants voicing their support for the steering committee option.
The resolution is for a steering group that includes village representation from each of the tenant sectors. There are 54 village tenants, 35 community groups, eight trading, and 10 others renting space – office or otherwise.
Also to be included in the village steering group is council representation, and representation from organisations with relevant expertise like Tourism BOP or Creative Tauranga.
At the conclusion of nine months operation the steering group recommendations for the longer term options for village management are expected to be incorporated into the Ten Year Plan process.
Longer term options involve distancing the village from the city council either by setting up an incorporated society or a council controlled organisation.
Kevin Nicholson from the village says he wants the CCO option now, and Councillor Catherine Stewart moved it.
Acting CEO Christine Jones says a CCO requires Local Government Act processes.
In discussion councillors decided a CCO or similar company structure is a step to be taken further along the track.
The steering group can carry on the momentum and continue to work on the directions decided by council and supported by the majority of village tenants.
They include a more proactive approach to attracting visitors and tourists to the village, running it in a sustainable manner and involving community groups in the village operations.

Has anyone asked the Village people if they want Guy, Stewart or Grainger? - people who have been unashamedly lobbied and have already made their minds up regarding Village management - shame on you for disregarding democratic process.

This must be the cunning plan to have a community funded Museum? Create a new CCO, hide all the money, then hide the Museum in there and pretend that it is "community funded?" NOT
Definition of CCO

CCO in fact means as far as TCC is concerned COUNCIL(RATEPAYERS) CASH ONLY because no one else wants any part of it, no one else has any cash and it will be in debt forever.
CCO Crap

The Village is currently self funding (all lies aside now) - and always could be - people - too many people - are telling lies for their own power mongering purposes - leave the Village as it is - a self sustaining "community" village - it will never be a "retail outlet" - or an "historic village" - the CCO stuff is perpetrated (with big lies being told to gullible councilors) by people who have secreted themselves in other trusts and organisations so that they may take control - this present Council is short sighted if they think the Village could ever draw tourists (ie cruise ship people). Grow up Tauranga - the Village is a cool place - not a "tourist" draw card - BUT - it is a fantastic "community" venue - with all that that entails - sought after by many other towns and cities - A strong community!!! The Council doesn't have much else to be proud of when it comes to supporting community development.

COUNTLESS COSTS "O" BOUND. at least for ratepayers anyway as they are forced without any say to borrow money, pay interest and ru-up endless losses. Just look at any other CCO, good example is Baypark $12 million debt, $2.5 million loss each year and will only get worse as the only answer is to borrow more to pay the losses, so in 4 years the $12 million debt is then $24 million (we are there now) and in another for years from now $12 million will be $24 million ... do the same with TISEC starting with $45 million start cost ... and onward it goes. That is what happens with your (as a ratepayer) debt, now a simple question is what do you think will happen with your rates ... DITTO ! ! ! ! ! ! !

No way does Council have cash, it is all borrowed to do anything, to pay the losses, to pay the interest. They even think that borrowed money is not cash? Next they will open a printing press and make even more monopoly money.
TCC stands for ...

BORROWINGS GALOUR !
Posted on 31-12-2010 11:03 | By The Master
The "Torture Censor Control" has recently borrowed $75 million from the public etc in a bond issue, that is to pay for TISEC $45 million, finalise Mt Greens $5 million and the already decided upon Mt Pools extravagances of $8-10 million.

CCO MEANS HIDING PLACE
Posted on 02-01-2011 13:32 | By The Master
Just another place to off load more overheads, costs and pay even more officials to do and achieve even less than before. Just look at TISEC, overpaid officials paid to line up the action at TISEC when it opens but sadly all that is going to happen is basketball on Saturday mornings. They most likely will have to pay for that to happen only adding to the HUGE losses that are being fired at the "TURKEYS" already.

The more Council sticks its nose in the less volunteer help there will be, it is a simple concept, the more they try to help the worse it gets, have a look at the history, "HISTORY IS GOING TO REPEAT". For every volunteer doing a few hours a week Council will create a mountain of officials and achieve less.
