Remedial works will be taking place at the Thames-Coromandel District Council's office building on Mackay St over the weekend.

The balcony directly above the main entrance, which is accessed from the council chambers, has ongoing issues with water ponding and currently also raises building compliance concerns.

Work to enclose the balcony starts today and demolition work is scheduled to take place over the weekend (May 23-24).

Access to the building through the main doors will not be impacted and all precautions will be taken to safeguard access during construction.

The work is estimated to be completed by the 16 June.
