The Thames-Coromandel District Council says the public toilets outside the Civic War Memorial Centre are now reopened following their upgrade.
Two of the three stalls are now open again with the third to open shortly once additional touches have been applied.
Construction is also underway renovating the Thames Civic Centre, with the Thames i-SITE and Destination Coromandel relocating to the Civic Centre offices when work is completed.
AA driver and vehicle licensing will move from the Thames i-SITE to the council's district office on Mackay Street on Wednesday July 1.
The previous toilets used domestic and light commercial fittings, similar to those used in homes and offices.
The extensive wear and tear was discovered to be even greater once renovations began, with hard daily wear having put a heavy strain on the well-used public facility.
During the upgrade we installed more hard-wearing backing boards, basins, and cisterns as well as behind-the-scenes upgrades including plumbing and lighting.
We've also put in fresh new tiling and easy to clean floors. Some minor tweaking will continue to be added over time.
