Council communications offline

People looking for information on the city's bus operations or Bay of Plenty Regional Council will need to pick up the phone today, with a technical fault currently affecting the council's communications.

In a statement, council say a damaged fibre cable in Whakatane means its websites - www.boprc.govt.nz and www.baybus.co.nz - are down.

The fault has also affected all external email, meaning no one within council is receiving or able to send email.

Until the fault can be fixed, people should use the following numbers to contact staff or get bus information:

Baybus (for all Bayhopper, Schoolhopper and Cityride enquries): 0800 422 928

Bay of Plenty Regional Council (to contact staff): 0800 884 880

Council thanks the public for their patience while the issues are dealt with.

Nevertheless life goes on

The computers and word processors can be switched off. Edicts won't be able to be issued into the ether. Not a huge problem in my opinion.

Bonus question?

Does that means that they can't talk to us either? Sounds like a win-win situation to me, can we just leave it as is then?
