Online cenotaph heading to Thames

This November Thames will host an online hub used for capturing stories of New Zealand service men and women who served in World War One.

Auckland Museum's He Pou Aroha, Community Cenotaph kiosk will be housed at the Thames iSite during the Women of Empire 1914-1918 exhibition which takes place from November 16-26

Once the exhibition has wrapped up the cenotaph will then move to The Treasury on Queen St.

The purpose built online cenotaph provides digital access to approximately 127,000 records in total with around 99,000 biographical records relating to WWI.

The digitisation kiosk allows people to search, records, lay a virtual poppy against a specific person's name and contribute additional information to the database.

The Online Cenotaph will be at the Thames iSite from November 9 to March 22, 2016.
