New council CEO known in a week

The identity of Tauranga City Council's new CEO is expected to be announced in a week to 10 days time.

Mayor Stuart Crosby says the appointment process is close to its conclusion.

'We have just concluded our final round of interviews and we hope to make an announcement within a short period of time – hopefully a week to 10 days.

'Today was the day, we are just wrapping things up.”

On March 16, Stuart said the council had completed its interview process with a shortlist of four candidates.

He was asked if it was because a chosen candidate had changed their mind about the job. Stuart said he was not going to comment about the process at all, but he confirms the selected candidate is from the original shortlist of four.

He wouldn't say if the new CEO is from out of town.

'If I let you know that I would be eliminating one or disclosing one,” says Stuart.

Former CEO Stephen Town resigned last July to take up a position with the NZ Transport Agency in Auckland.

Former deputy CEO Christine Jones has been acting CEO since Stephen's departure.

A CEO who will fight for more staff and more services to be provided, there is plenty of future growth to pay for everything.

WM you are really having a 'cloudy day' for sure, the money has long since left the building and will not return this side of the 1/2 century.

Welcome to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland world. "And yet you incessantly stand on your head do you think at your age that is right. In my youth...I feared it might injure the brain but now I am perfectly sure I have none why I do it over and over again"
