‘Stinking mess’ closes reserve

A sewage overflow, described by some Judea residents as a ‘stinking mess', has forced the closure of a reserve on Bell Street.

Sewage spewed out into the reserve three weeks ago after a pipe in the area was ruptured by contractors.

Bell Road residents say the sewage was flowing like a river when it first ruptured and the smell was unbearable.

Toilet paper was seen among the sludge.

Tauranga City Council is working to replace about 80 metres of damaged pipeline.

The reserve will remain closed for the next week while repairs are taking place.

Health warning signs were erected in the area immediately after the leak, but water quality tests taken have returned clear so the signs have been removed.

Looks and smells the same, yet nothing happens at TCC to remedy?

Disgraceful

What a horrible sight and this has been going on for 3weeks. Surely the contractors responsible should have been required to attend to repairs immediately and for TCC to allow this to drag on is unbelievable. If rating money was not splurged on the nice to haves then this sort of mess would be attended to promptly by Council not left to rot.

SOUTHERN PIPELINE

This is nothing, wait for teh Southern pipeline to burst its banks and dump its load anywhere between Melame St and Te Munga, it is going to look a lot like the Mississipi storm surge but smell a lot worse.

Splattered all over the place

Looks like Southern Pipeline sewage wastewater has already been dumped into this Park. If there is toilet paper there is more floating around as well. What a filthy unhygienic mess and health hazard it is.

Looks bad, smells bad ...

Must be bad, but really all that is needed to fix the sewer problems is to stop the rain water going in.

PLONKER that is sooo bloody

ridiculous .. Geee mate stop being so sensible. A better quicker cheaper way to fix the problem is surely "just shift the house's". Then there would be no smell for them to complain of. Mind you they really should be grateful they have a roof over their heads aye? We should all get together and have a luncheon at the Sebel to discuss this - coffee and drinkies of course. Mr Mayor would you like to attend ?? PLEASE! "Citizens Monitoring Council"

Not sure what FOFFS stands for but Bill F must certianly have something to do with it. I am Sure SSSP is the "SATANICAL (close to fanatical) SOUTHERN SEWERAGE PIPELINE". but it could also be "SURRENDER SUCKER (any old turkey of course) SOMETHING PROVEN" we all just dont know now do we?

I know, the "O" stands for "OFF" the middle "F" means FOR" and the "S" means "SAKE". I can't really say what the remaining letters stand for? I am sure someone can work it out through?
