Hot pools blog for transparency

Tauranga City Aquatics Ltd is hoping to boost its transparency by blogging and showing photos and video of the progress of the Mount Hot Pools redevelopment project.

TCAL CEO Tania Delahunty says improving transparency is important for the Tauranga City Council controlled organisation.

'We acknowledge that the communication and dialogue surrounding the hot pools needs to be improved and so it is our intention to give the public the opportunity to not only have their say, but to see what we're seeing as our contractors lift the concourse and start the remedial works” says Tania.

People will be able to read the history of the pools, subscribe for regular updates, and get factual information on the events that led to its sudden closure earlier this month.

'If people can see how problematic and aged the current infrastructure is, it will improve their understanding of our drive to have the facility re-developed,” says Tania.

'We knew that we had inherited a legacy system that was aged and without ‘as built' plans – and now the inevitable has unfortunately occurred.”

While undertaking the repairs, TCAL is taking the opportunity to upgrade the pipes and future proof the facility.

Electrical conduits will be installed in the ground alongside new pipes, valves and some old plants will also be replaced says Tania.

The benefit of having detailed drawings available for the hot pools' proposed redevelopment means TCAL can quickly respond to the requirement to replacing pipes because products, quantities and prices are specified and the optimum pipe layout and connections plan is already known, says Tania.

'Nonetheless, there is no denying this is a big project and we will be working hard in weather-dependent conditions to have the facility reopened by mid to late September.”

TCAL is offering significantly discounted access to Baywave for regular swimmers as a way to appease any concerns regarding access to swimming facilities at Mount Maunganui.

WHAT CONSULTANT ARE THEY PAYING?

Once again we see this Ad Hoc group trying scramble for cover, many people have asked for transparency but it has taken a long time to come. I am starting to think Tania is covering her own mis management, strong I know but something is wrong. This is like bolting the gate after the horse has gone.

transparent as mud!

Dear Tania, if you want to be transparent, why aren't your gym membership fees available for the public to SEE (ive been asking for a couple of years). Can you tell me also that now you have been audited and the gym memberships are found to subsidise the pools, are you going to reduce the membership fees?

True transparency

While a blog is a good PR move, the transparency that is really required is in the process for entering contracts. Why wasn't the current repair contract put to tender? How can we know that the amount being spent is the best deal available? Why will it take so long? Suitable contractors should have been asked to tender on time and cost. If the one the contract was awarded to didn't meet what they agreed there would be penalties. The process should be SEEN to be without favour. THAT's transparency.

Clean out the filth

It's not worth trying to engage in sensible discussion with ANYone dabbling in the run-down self-serving filth pit called TCAL. Scrap the lot and replace them with LEAN management.

TCAL CEO Tania Delahunty says improving transparency

WOW!!REALLY?? Do you want us to believe that "YOU" will post "all" information and not censor any? Lady, best you start being up front open and honest about "your" circus in all matters. Not the ones "YOU" think will score "YOU" some points. Be very careful Tania because the points you score could well be browny and not golden! Here is another wee gem for you Grasshopper "The worst kind of arrogance is arrogance from ignorance" ~Jim Rohn~ Will observe with out holding my breath. -Citizens Monitoring Council-

What Is Happening??

I thought transparency would be clearer and other than use of a radar to check wash outs and salvaging equipment, what else has been done. They seem to have a contractor sealed signed and delivered early in the piece and on going to the web site not much clear information there. In fact a lot of it was old hat, nothing really new. Stop bombarding the people with what if's etc I for one want to know has work really started or is it at the fluffing around stage?

TCAL AND TRANSPARENT ?

You are joking right, the nearest Tania Delahunty gets to "transparent" is that the Local Government Act is used a door stop. The whole place runs on ratepayers money but no one will admit that.

OPAQUE v TRANSPARENT

Like chalk and cheese Tania is at the latter end, there is nothing left to block the view of what she is about, completely see though, guess that comes about from foollowing in the footsteps of the PROVEN LEADERSHIP at TCAL/TCC ?

No show of the public seeing the truth unless the hand brake is off, then of course that would be far to much of the truth to cope with in a day ...

The most up to date post on the blog is dated the 24th June. They state there that they hope to post every Tuesday but then of course miss the first Tuesday that it is up and not running. Perhaps they'll update us when the pools re-open.

Mscholtzi mindset

Improving transparency that really is a bellylaugh and this TCAL outfit wouldn't know the meaning of the word. What they meant to say was we will provide our sanatised version of the facts etc and the public can suck on that.Lets just get rid of this TCAL lot and start again it will be cheaper better and more efficient.

THEY CANT DO IT

Posted on 10-07-2011 18:18 | By Vomit

A blog for "transparency", i had a look at it and well yet another website setup and whatever cost ... it is nothing better than a self created self satisfying self gratification page and of course they are only showing the good blogs and nothing else. If someone wanted to be "transparent" they would have someone independant with the logins. Liek that is going to happen!!!!! NOT!!!!!
