Works are continuing this week on the Cameron Road and 11th Avenue intersection.
Also involved in the works programme are changes to the 11th avenue intersections with St John Street and Christopher Street.
Water main renewals are also in progress.
Kerb and channel replacement will continue this week on Cameron Road and at the 11th Avenue intersection.
The Tauranga City Council is advising access to businesses in the area will be maintained at all times.
Delays are expected and motorists are advised to use an alternative route if possible.
This information from the Tauranga City Council weekly bulletin for the week beginning Monday, October 24, published below.
City Waters
- A pipeline blockage caused a sewer overflow on Thursday which affected stormwater ponds at Palm Beach Boulevard. Health warning signs were installed. (Due to the proliferation of health warning signs along the coast we received some calls from concerned residents who thought the new signs at Palm Beach meant oil had infiltrated the stormwater ponds. This is not the case. It's just an ordinary sewer spill… a throwback to a simpler time before oil was our main issue.)
Parks and Leisure
- The Sulphur Point BMX track will be closed to the public from Monday 31 October 2011. Work will be completed during the following week to level the site to remove any potential hazards.
- The Tauranga BMX Club has almost completed a new track at Cambridge Park. The new track should be ready to ride mid November, with the first race meeting scheduled for December 11.
- McLaren Falls - An area at the Top Flat at the park has been levelled and re-grassed to allow for more camping space and more useable for other activities. There are now new owners of the café in the park and they plan to reopen on December 10.
