Becoming a musician came naturally to Marg Harper after growing up surrounded by instruments – and she will be entertaining with her life long talent at No. The Strand on Thursday night.
Starting with piano at a tender age, Marg had access to guitars, recorders, xylophones and ukuleles while growing up. This led to a passion for learning more musical instruments and in turn to Marg becoming a teacher of music.
Marg Harper sings and plays at No.1 The Strand on Thursday night.
She has a collection of folk instruments which she demonstrates in schools, but Marg's speciality is playing harp, guitar and piano and she has a beautiful silky smooth singing voice. On Thursday night she is playing finger style guitar and singing jazz standards and European café songs at No.1 The Strand from 6pm.
On Sunday, it will be Grant Haua who takes up the microphone. Grant will be singing and playing his guitar from 3pm.
Grant is also appearing with his trio at the 2010 Marchwood Blues Picnic at Omokoroa on January 30. His material on Sunday afternoon will include blues and rock standards and some of his own work.
