Motorists are being advised to use an alternative route as Salisbury Ave, The Mall, Adams Ave and Marine Parade will be closed on Sunday.
Tauranga City Council is closing off the roads to allow the Real Women's Triathlon to take place.
A TCC Spokesperson says the roads will be closed from 6am until midday.
Tweed Street and Oceanbeach Road are not included in the closures.
The duathlon course includes a 1-3.5km walk/run, a 10km bike course followed by a 2-1.5km walk/run.
Other participants will take part in the triathlon which includes a 400m swim from Pilot Bay.

lets hope the council and both event organisers realize the longboard comp & the triathlon are on the same day. 200+ surfers and the spectators could be a bit annoyed not being able to get to the event.

What a balls up. Very bad planning by somebody. TCC staff have screwed up again. I agree with "vinniz".
