The Tauranga City Council is advising residents to flush their water each morning before using any water from the tap.
A spokesperson is advising some plumbing fittings have the potential to allow minute traces of metals to accumulate in water which has been standing in the fittings for several hours.
The health risk is small, but the Ministry of Health is advising people to flush their taps to remove any metals which may have dissolved from the plumbing fitting.

Who drinks the water from the first turn of the tap?... I will tell you the answer...No one!... I would bet that everyone runs the tap because the first water is warm and tastes like c**p

Is our water that corrosive that it is dissolving metal in the plumbing? Who knows what it's doing to our innards. I'll stick to beer!
