The Tauranga City Council is in the process of selecting the first three trustees to run the Funding Trust for Sydenham Botanic Park.
The trust is a fundraising body only, with a separate advisory group to be set up to provide feedback from the community and give advice to the council on the park's development.

The council will be advertising for community members to apply for positions on the advisory group in March.

Parks
- The Matua Hall has had many of its old wooden windows and doors replaced, all paid for by the Matua Residents Association, allowing this project to be completed several years ahead of the council's planned programme. As managers of the hall and based on user feedback, the association did not want to wait that long and so approached council with an offer to fund the work.
Transportation
- Annual Resealing Programme: Resealing continues on various streets around the city in the annual reseal programme.
- Cambridge Road: Work to upgrade Cambridge Road between Miles Lane and River Oak Drive continues. Please expect delays and use an alternative route if possible.
- City Centre Intersections: Minor work to improve safety at the following inner city intersections starts this week: Willow Street and Harington Street, Willow Street and McLean Street and Hamilton Street and Durham Street. Please watch for signs and drive carefully in these streets.
- Courtney Road: Final resurfacing will be done shortly, weather permitting.
- Fraser Street: Work to upgrade pedestrian crossings, install new roundabouts and reseal a section of Fraser Street in the area around the Merivale shops is almost finished. A temporary 30km speed restriction is in place. Please expect some delays.
- Streetlight Upgrade: Work to upgrade the streetlights in part of Ohauiti Road, Domain Road and Harington Street will start this week. Please watch for signs and drive carefully in these streets.
- Welcome Bay Road: Work to lay a new wastewater pipe on the road shoulder between Forrester Drive and Waitaha Road is underway. Most of the work will be done off the road and disruption to traffic is expected to be minimal.
- Ultrafast Broadband: Work to install Ultrafast Broadband is being done in Greerton, Judea, Sulphur Point, and the industrial & residential areas around Golf Road to Tay Street at the Mount. Most of the work is being done off the road. The Ultrafast Broadband project is a central government initiative. City Waters
- Watermain upgrades on Kaniere Street and Esk Street have commenced and are anticipated to take approximately one month.
- Damage to a water main on the corner of Bell Street and Paine Street resulted in customers experiencing loss of supply last Thursday afternoon.
- Water main flushing is programmed to commence early March in the Papamoa area, advertisements will be placed in the local papers with more details.
- Te Reti Watermain Upgrades: Pipe is being drilled in Birmingham Street. New pipe is being connected up in Te Atatu Place. New pipes are now operational in Westminster Drive, Ely Place and Lichfield Place.
- Six reported sewer blockages were attended to this week. These incidents did not cause any overflows to the stormwater system. Two were the result of thrust damage in Maunganui Road and First Avenue. The other incidents were caused by fat blockage (Links Ave), rubble (Glenlyon Ave) and root infiltration into a private connection (Kahira Crescent and Pacific Park Way).
- Excavation work the Portside Drive storm water pond continues along with some other improvements in the existing open drain heading towards the Tukorako Drive pond.

It has taken nearly a year to get this far you have to be joking. TCC can usually make decisions on projects that bankrupt TCC ratepayers in minutes.
