A power cut to Mount Maunganui on Friday night meant that many bar and restaurant patrons were faced with a late night dinner in the dark.
The power outage which occurred at 9.29pm affected 4480 properties along the Mount Maunganui peninsula.
An initial message on the PowerCo website stated that power wasn't expected to be restored until 2.20am on Saturday November 2, however by 9.50pm power had been restored to most properties, leaving only 284 properties without power.
On Saturday a spokesperson for PowerCo reported that power was restored to all those affected by 2am on Saturday morning.
The cause of the outage is still unknown.
'We do not expect any further disruption,” says the PowerCo spokesperson. 'We are investigating the cause of the incident.”
