Pete's Takeaways must be somewhat aggrieved reading this, "Four reported sewer blockages were attended to this week. One of these incidents caused an overflow to a stormwater system. Water sampling has been taken off Sherson Street where the overflow drained to large swamp area. The other incidents were at Leander Drive, Jasmine Street, Hinewa/Otumoetai and Cameron Road." In addition, no doubt to legal and staff time costs, the fine was $35,000 after heavy rain impacted on a retention pond with no discernible impact! I note the Sherson Street residential land is referred to as 'a large swamp area'. If is was anybody but the local authority the land would be 'a wetlands of huge ecological value, home to all manner of endangered creatures and native plant life'!
