A section of Welcome Bay Road is expected to be closed around April 28, to allow contractors to complete the Waitaha Road wastewater upgrade.

Tauranga City Council says contractors are making good progress on the Waitaha Road wastewater upgrade, despite bad weather and a watermain break causing minor delays.

A spokesperson says once Waitaha Road is open, they will need to close Welcome Bay Road, near the intersection with Waitaha Road, for a weekend so they can lay a new sewer pipe under it.
The Council expects this to be around April 28 and 29.

Digital signs will be in place displaying the road closure information several days in advance. Detours will be in place via Waitaha Road and Village Park Drive.
