Residents of Boucher Ave in Te Puke were woken abruptly from sleep early this morning when a speeding vehicle crashed into a powerpole.
Sunday morning's crash occurred just before 3.30am, bringing down powerlines and causing a power outage.
Police report that there were no reported injuries.
The power company have been working most of the day, with power finally restored to the remaining 100 homes about 3pm.
