UPDATE: Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield is reporting five recovered cases of COVID-19 today.

This means that the number of active cases descreases from 27 to 22.

Ashley says there are no new cases of COVID to report.

He says it has now been 83 days since the last case of the virus was acquired locally from an unknown source.

"All cases in the last few weeks have been identified during our routine testing in managed isolation.

"It shows the importance of the rigorous testing we are carrying out."

The total confimed number of cases of COVID-19 in New Zealand is 1205. This is the number reported daily to the WHO.

On Wednesday, laboratories carried out 2419 test. To date, 448,786 tests have been carried out in NZ since testing began at the beginning of the year.
