Auckland to move down alert levels

Auckland will join the rest of the country at alert level 1 from 11.59pm on Wednesday, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced.

Ardern announced Cabinet's decision live this afternoon from Christchurch.

She says the signs point to the Auckland cluster being under control, and according to research there is now a 95 per cent probability of the cluster being eliminated.

There have been no new cases within the Auckland cluster for the past ten days, and only one person still has the virus, she says.

'As we come together again as a country in level 1 we can let ourselves feel pride, that we managed to get to that position together.

Ardern says she is worried about a 'resurgence of complacency” moving forward.
'To stay at level 1 relies on all of us continuing to be vigilant.”

She urged the public to continue to use the COVID-19 tracer app daily, and to stay home if they are sick.
