Dozens of dolphins have been spotted in Tauranga Harbour this morning.
A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says there were heaps of dolphins swimming in the harbour near Welcome Bay.
"I was dropping my kids off at school when I saw them. There were dozens of them down at the estuary at the end of Waitaha Road.
"They are probably down by Rotary Park now."
Another Welcome Bay resident who emailed a video to SunLive, says her boys "woke up to this lovely surprise off our deck after just reading a story about swimming with dolphins last night from the library".
There are nine different species of dolphin found around the New Zealand coast, including Hector's, Māui and bottlenose dolphins.
