Two-vehicle crash on SH2 near Wairoa bridge

There has been a vehicle collision on SH2 between Bethlehem and Te Puna.

Police are responding to a two-car crash on SH2 near Wairoa Rd.

The nose to tail crash occurred at around 2.40pm.

It is unknown at this stage if there have been any injuries.

Police report that the westbound lane has been blocked but is now clear again.

And another example to demonstrate the reduced speed limit on the SH2 isn't working. Any cop who thinks a reduced speed limit will prevent road traffic accidents should resign......then wake up. Increase the speed limit on the SH2!!

This is a state highway with a speed limit of 90ks right there. BUT I think it is the only place on a highway in NZ where people stop and let vehicles from side roads in and so vehicles behind the dumb driver have nowhere to go. Also this slows the traffic for the rest of frustrated drvers.
