VIDEO: Fire investigators to probe Merivale fire

UPDATE 6.38PM: Investigations are underway into the cause of a fire in Merivale.

Firefighters were called to the fire at a business on Courtney Road around 5.30pm.

The road was cordoned off for a while, as firefighters battle the fire.

A reporter at the scene says the fire is now out and firefighters are packing up their gear.

"Traffic is now flowing again.

"The fire chief here says they have no idea what caused the fire.

"He says a fire safety investigator will be back at the scene to complete a scene examination."

Reports are coming in of a fire in Merivale.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says firefighters are dealing with what appears to be a fire at a building on Courtney Road.

A number of other people have taken to social media to report multiple sirens in the Merivale area.

Another caller says access to Courtney Road is blocked and there are diversions in place.

She says the fire looks pretty bad and looks like it is near the Automatic Transmission place.

Police have cordons in place on Courtney Road.

People are advised to avoid the area.
