UPDATE: There are seven new cases of COVID-19 in New Zealand today, including one community case and six at the border.

The Minister for COVID-19 Response Chris Hipkins and Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield have provided a COVID-19 this afternoon.

The community case has been in self-isolation and is linked to the recent Auckland outbreak.

This person, who is being called 'Case D”, is a family member of an adult and a child who tested positive after completing managed isolation at the Pullman Hotel.

Case D returned a positive result after being tested on February 2.

'This person has been self-isolating for the full 14 day period after their last exposure to a case,” says Dr Bloomfield.

He says there are some close contacts of Case D, who are also close contacts of Case B and C (the cases who tested positive last week).

They are all currently self-isolating.

Hipkins reiterates that the public health risk of this additional community case is very low.

The community case will soon be moved to an Auckland Quarantine Facility.

There were 5130 COVID-19 tests processed in New Zealand yesterday.

'Every time there is a new case it is a positive reminder to us all that COVID-19 is still with us and we still need to remain vigilant,” says Hipkins.

The Pullman Hotel in Auckland will be emptied by Saturday.

Over the following week, its CCTV systems would be upgraded, followed by a deep clean, Hipkins says.

There were three cases of COVID-19 in managed isolation to report in New Zealand yesterday.

In a Ministry of Health media statement, a spokesperson says one of these cases is classified as historical and deemed not infectious.

There were no new cases in the community.

"Two cases which were reported yesterday have been reclassified as Under Investigation, as they are likely to be historical cases which may have previously been reported overseas."

Twelve previously reported cases have now recovered.

"The total number of active cases in New Zealand is 61. Our total number of confirmed cases is 1952."

The total number of tests processed by laboratories to date is 1,541,701.
