A road near Waihi has been closed following a tree falling down across it.
The fallen tree is completely blocking Golden Valley Rd about one kilometre from the intersection of State Highway 25.
'Unfortunately our contractor can't get hold of a digger big enough to move it until Tuesday next week,” says Hauraki District Council Senior Communications Advisor Paula Trubshaw. 'So we're asking motorists to please avoid the area if possible until then.
'Hauraki District Council thanks you for your patience and understanding.”

What happens when the Ambos need to get up the road tomorrow?? Remember the "OLD DAYS" YES old days when councils had a "works department" and the the road would have been cleared within 12 hours - 24/7 !!!
