Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises resurfacing works are taking place at two separate locations around Tauranga this week.
Works will be undertaken at night to minimise disruption to motorists.
At the State Highway 29A, Oropi roundabout, work will be undertaken from Sunday March 14 to Wednesday March 17, finishing Thursday morning, between 6pm – 6am. Traffic will be controlled by a four-way Stop/Go operation at the roundabout with a 30 km per hour temporary speed limit in place.
At the State Highway 2 Takitimu Drive, northbound between Elizabeth Street and Chapel Street off-ramp, work will be undertaken from Thursday March 18 to Friday March 19 finishing Saturday morning between 6pm – 6am. A lane closure will be in place in the northbound direction. A 30 km per hour temporary speed limit applies in the area.
'It is important motorists adhere to the relevant temporary speed limits during these works to avoid damage to their vehicles and ensure their safety and that of other road users and road workers,” says an NZTA spokesperson.
These works are part of the Waka Kotahi spring/summer road maintenance programme, which will see repairs and resurfacing on state highways across the Bay of Plenty.
In the event of bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances, work may be postponed.
