A person has died while cycling in Te Puna.
A Sunlive reader has reported that two ambulances and a fire truck were at the scene of a cyclist lying on the ground next to a bicycle in Borell Rd, Te Puna.
"They were doing CPR, it didn't look good," says the SunLive reader.
Police have confirmed that they have received a report of a sudden death of a person who had been cycling on Borell Road.
"Initial indications are that this was a medical event," says a Police spokesperson.
The Te Puna Lions Bike Fun Day was also underway nearby at Maramatanga Park, however organiser Doug Morris has confirmed that the cyclist wasn't one of the participants in the day's events.
"We knew that had happened, and checked to make sure whether it was one of our cyclists but it was a separate individual out riding," says Doug. " Very sad."
