Tree felling works continues at the intersection of State Highway 2 and Youngson Road, near Omokoroa, today.

Waka Kotahi Transport Agency says these works will be undertaken between 6am and 1pm, for the felling and removal of trees close to powerlines.

Works are being carried out on the weekend to minimise the impacts on traffic, however, delays are expected, says a spokesperson for the roading agency.

"Waka Kotahi acknowledges delays experienced due to tree felling work on SH2 over recent weekends and advises that this Sunday's work will result in completion of tree felling at the SH2/Youngson Road intersection.

"Northbound traffic can bypass this work via Barrett Road, Old Highway and Esdaile Road. This route is not suitable for heavy vehicles. There is no alternative route available for southbound traffic.

"Stop/Go traffic management will be in place with a 30km/h temporary speed limit. Contractors will be actively working to minimise any delays as much as possible.

"Please take extra care, reduce your speed and follow directions of traffic management staff and signage."

In the event of bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances, work may be postponed.
