A man was seen on the Te Puke highway riding on top of a fuel tanker that was heading towards Mount Maunganui.
A SunLive reader says that when the tanker turned into a fuel station, the man jumped off and left on foot.
Police report that the man got on the tanker at Te Puke, unbeknown to the tanker driver.
'He was spotted in Tauranga and intercepted by Police,” says a Police spokesperson.
'He has been warned for unlawfully interfering with a motor vehicle.”

WARNING?

I cannot believe he got off with a warning. Imagine if he'd fallen off into the path of another vehicle or gone under the tanker because of his dangerous, reckless, thoughtless actions. Those people would have to live with the knowledge of killing someone for the rest of their life. Talking about tankers, I see the price of fuel has slowly crept up again and is over $2 . . . Even at Mobil Chapel St which is disappointing as I thought they'd become the family focused station. Thank you for monitoring this Labour. Ripping us off while that fella gets a free ride. A warning, hahaha, that's all that means to him.

Agreed. What's the bet he will do it again next week. I'd say highly likely.
