One dead after motorcycle and car crash on SH38

4.52pm update: Due to the fatal crash on SH38, the highway is now down to a one lane Stop/Go at Okaro Rd.

One person has died in the crash that occurred near Waimangu around 11am.

Motorists are advised to expect delays.

Earlier 12.05pm: One person has died in a crash in the Bay of Plenty.

The crash occurred on State Highway 38, Waimangu at the intersection with Okaro Rd.

Emergency services were advised of the crash, involving a motorcycle and a car, around 11am.

A second person has also been injured.

The crash is the fourth fatal on Waikato and Bay of Plenty roads since the start of the Easter holiday.

The state highway is closed while a scene examination takes place.

Traffic is also being blocked from travelling along Waimangu Rd which leads south onto Okaro Rd.

Motorists are asked to delay travel if possible, and to take the alternative route, as follows:

Eastbound traffic: Continue south on SH5, turn left onto Old Waiotapu Rd until you reach SH38.

Westbound Traffic: Turn left onto Old Waiotapu Rd, continue until you reach SH5.

I do a extended trip about once each fortnight,Each time I encounter a motorcyclist trying to committ Kamakazi.
