A child has escaped with some cuts and bruises after being hit by a car in Welcome Bay.

Police received a report of a child being hit by a car in Esmeralda St shortly after 11am.

"The child had some cuts and bruises but did not require further medical attention," says a Police spokesperson.

"Police at still at the scene speaking to those involved."
