What's the reason?

For a weekly occurrence, why is it we are never informed of the reason for driving into these power poles? Or is this just the norm in NZ?

The reason is someone not paying attention, and the generally poor standard of driving with most new drivers not taking Defensive Driving courses... The solution: Improve the standard of driving by encouraging people to take advanced courses AND improve the Electricity network by forcing power companies to invest in proper redundant reticulation, so that hundreds or thousands of people are without power when someone hits a pole or a transformer is struck by lightning. It is like a third world country to have ONE main power line to a community.
