COVID-19: 33 new community cases include Waikato

There are 33 new community cases of COVID-19 announced today. Of these 32 are Auckland-based and one case is in Waikato.

There are no new cases identified at the border. There were more than 50,000 vaccines administered on Saturday.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and the DirectorGeneral of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield are speaking at a live press conference at 1pm today following the announcement of new community cases of COVID-19.

There are 26 cases in hospital, with three in North Shore Hospital, 13 in Middlemore, nine in Auckland and one in Waikato Hospital. Three of the cases are in ICU or HDU.

On Saturday an Auckland truck driver who travelled to Palmerston North for work has tested positive for Covid-19 and two new positive COVID-19 community cases were detected in Waikato. One of the Waikato cases has been moved to a quarantine facility in Auckland.
