There are many reports of road blocks in the Coromandel peninsula due to rocks and tree branches over roads on Sunday.
Coromandel's CFM is reporting a tree has fallen across the road between Opoutere and Hikuai.
"We don't have an exact location but it is blocking the Northbound lane.
"There are several reports of trees down around Matarangi. One report of a tree across SH25 between Te Rerenga and Matarangi."
There are also trees down on Kennedy Bay Road blocking access to motorists and trees down heading out of Ngatea towards Blueberry Orchard.
"Also an earlier report tree down across the road between Cooks Beach turnoff and Whitianga. has now been cleared."
There are also reports of fallen trees across the Whitianga Bypass Road,just past Racecourse Road at Buffalo Beach.
"Lots of stories of rocks on roads and the coast road has a lot of debris," reports Coromandel's CFM.
At 9.30am, 353 properties were reported without power in Waihi and 333 without power in Waikino. In Paeroa 498 properties also had a power cut. Site investigations are underway.
A power outage due to strong winds at Port Charles, Coromandel, is affecting 304 properties. Power is expected to be restored there by 1pm.
Earlier, there were power cuts reported after 8.30am to 34 properties in Whitianga and 51 properties in Whangamata. Power is expected to be restored to these properties by Sunday afternoon.
WeatherWatch advises that ex-tropical cyclone Dovi is about to make landfall in the North Island, somewhere around North Taranaki and Waitomo either late morning or around lunchtime Sunday.
"This is bringing a damaging surge of westerlies into Auckland City and also parts of Waikato, Coromandel Peninsula and Northland until early to mid afternoon," says WeatherWatch head analyst Philip Duncan.
"Meanwhile southerlies blast into Wellington, Cook Strait, Taranaki and maybe Whanganui.
"The southerly blast will later move up Wairarapa and coastal Hawke's Bay, as it started to ease on the western side and in Auckland."
