Commissioners and three waters

Interesting to read the Mayor of Kaipara District Council, Dr Jason Smith, who was invited onto the three waters working group by Nania Mahuta has now joined the many local authorities in opposing three waters, stating that the governance structure 'limits the ability of all people and Communities to engage”.

Why is it that Tauranga City Council – represented by unelected Commissioners – was one of the first councils to support three waters and the retiring Mayor from the other local Western Bay of Plenty District Council, are both prepared to see our ratepayers assets stripped and governance handed to Māori?

Such activities are criminal and that is why court cases by ratepayer and local authority groups are now being waged against the mandating of three waters.

D Morris, Tauranga City.
