A test case in point

Re: ‘We need a petition to Parliament' letter from T Johnson (The Weekend Sun, April 8). A group of us very concerned citizens here at Katikati have already done a Petition demanding our true democracy back. We raised 6539 votes via electronic and paper voting papers; we could have raised many more. We ceased our effort because when we tried to get a politician via Act, National to present the Petition to government there seemed no enthusiasm to do so!

Our thrust was ‘New Zealand, one flag, one law for all, irrespective of race, ethnicity colour or creed!' Have politicians all signed up to the United Nations Agenda 2030? Their behaviour portrays that?

We did not try Labour as they are the party that has destroyed our democracy wanting to replace it with the He Puapua report, (a 123-page document from a working group, commissioned by Te Puni Kōkiri, to outline what New Zealand needed to do to realise its commitments to a United Nations declaration). Also agendas overnight taking away our human rights.

The Tauranga situation with a Commissioner and no councillors to be sure is a test case in point because that is how Labour would like to see every council; also with the added appointment of Maori on councils. No voting, no people input, no democracy! Contact your local ratepayers' group; I think you will find they have a petition in hand regarding the local council situation.

C Humphreys, Katikati.
