A car erupting into flames in Arataki has been captured on camera.

A video sent to SunLive by Sam, who has asked for their last name not to be published, show flames engulfing a vehicle on Eversham Road.

Emergency services quickly arrive at the scene and firefighters from Mount Maunganui deal with the blaze.

A police spokesperson says they received a report of a car on fire Eversham Rd around 6.45pm.

'One person was in the vehicle and managed to get out with some injuries.”

Police say she took herself to hospital and was discharged later that night.

'It appears this was an accident and is being resolved by those involved.”a
