Walkway closed for two months

The Daisy Hardwick walkway around the eastern side of the Waikareao Estuary is going to be closed for six to eight weeks.

The popular walkway was closed after part of the seawall near Pillans Road collapsed on Tuesday.

The Daisy Hardwick track along the Waikareao Estuary is closed following the partial collapse of a seawall.

Tauranga City Council has closed the track as a section between Goods Road and Maxwells Road is continuing to erode with each tide.

Council staff investigated the collapse on Tuesday and communications advisor Marcel Currin says they will have a more detailed view of what the repairs will involve later today.

Two months?

I suppose that it will take that amount of time for a couple of consultants to report on remedies to repair and for the council to then get someone sorted to repair it! Whilst not in this business I would have thought that a couple of weeks should have seen it sorted!

If it was my walk way the job would be finished yesterday at half the cost that they have spent fiddling with it so far. Crikey all the tea n coffee that they have drank to discuss it would have paid for the materials needed
