Dear editor – what a good idea! Yes, let's all vote for good, competent, altruistic councillors at the next Local Body Elections .
Actually, that is what I thought I was doing at the last elections. How does the average person know who is capable and competent?

The last election dumped a standing Mayor and elected a complete unknown with no experience. This may have been the main reason that we ended up with the Rubber Stamp Commisoners we are now lumbered with. Tauranga now has pretend democracy. After all public debate we have the Stake Holders who ever they making all the decisions behind closed doors.
Good question.

The main problem is, very few of the candidates are questioned on their policies or agenda, if they are how do you know they tell the truth, Look at Labour the party for transparent, honest governance, then you face the biggest problem, the main problem, the average Kiwi is just too lazy to go out and vote! hopefully, the 3 waters policy with the deceit and lies used to try and push this piece of racist legislation will encourage people to go out and vote, true democracy is being eroded ever more quickly in NZ and only a majority call against it, will stop it!
