A lost world

Is it just me, or do I detect that this world in which we live in, is collapsing in on itself socially speaking?

It is not unusual for neighbours to be isolated from each other, apart from a casual ‘Good Morning!' as they leave their homes on their way to work or shopping.

Teachers are in the frontline when it comes to the younger generation, as they not only have to try and educate these children but are often verbally and physically abused.

Medical staff are also treated in the same manner, as they heroically attempt to treat their patients.

The police are called names, and again not only abused but attacked when trying to uphold the law of this land.

Interestingly, we have a national anthem entitled ‘God Defend New Zealand' yet where is God in today's society?

As we all know, it has become politically un-PC to teach our children the fundamental laws of a moral society that are found in the 10 Commandments and are still essential in today's world.

For example, honour your parents – love each other – don't steal – don't murder etc . Education is simply viewed as a tool to enable students to succeed financially in this world without any consideration for the welfare of others.

Since schools have stopped teaching our children Christian values, we have become a nation of ‘anything goes if it feels right'. And so these children have now become the parents of today's children with little skills in teaching moral and spiritual values. They just have to rely purely on what feels okay in bringing up their family.

But what seems okay to one individual, may be looked upon as totally wrong with another person, as their values and culture may be so different.

Yes I know that this isn't just a New Zealand problem, as we are all aware the world seems to be in utter chaos with nation against nation, race against race, colour against colour, sexuality against sexuality. On and on it goes...

So why is it that when people of good character, beliefs dare to suggest that there is a solution, they are generally scorned as being Religious nutters? I think that this is because the public like to have the freedom to do as they please at the cost of destroying the society in which they live.

I am only writing this letter, because, although I am a nobody in today's world, I feel compelled to do something in my own small way.

Mike Loakman, Ohauiti.
