Flames and black smoke can be seen billowing from a car fire near Baypark.
Messages sent to SunLive's Facebook page say the car caught on fire on State Highway 29A, near the stadium.
A video shows firefighters battling the blaze.
People are advised to drive with caution in the area.
Northern Fire Communications shift manager Colin Underdown says the fire was well involved by the time of arrival.
"We had a lot of calls regarding the incident due to its location on State Highway 29A," says Colin.
"By the time we got there the fire was well involved. There was one high pressure delivery, and we had put traffic management in place until police had attended the scene.
"Fire has just left the scene."

Seems to me we hear more cars that catch fire.? A bit scary. Not sure if it's old cars but some of the fires shown in media don't seem to be. I understand that a US study says the figures indicate electric cars are least likely to catch fire followed by combustion engines and by far the worst is hybrids. However electric car batteries are hard to fight . Interesting

Why don't the emergency services do the TMP....traffic management plan and stop congestion and at least let traffic flow to stop the snarl up heading East off the off ramp?
