A major internet outage is reported to be affecting the Coromandel and the Western Bay of Plenty.
An Internet outage has hit parts of the Coromandel Peninsula today, according to Spark's outage map.
The outage includes Waihi, Bowentown, Onemana, Athenree and Whangamatā.
Tuatahi First Fibre Network Status page is also reporting outages in Katikati and Omokoroa.
The outage started on September 27 at 12.48pm.
A Spark spokesperson says the incident is believed to be caused by damage to a fibre cable along SH2 north of Tauranga.
"Unfortunately a fault on Chorus' fibre network is causing outages for some Spark broadband, landline and mobile customers in the Bay of Plenty region," says the Spark spokesperson.
"The outage began at ~1pm and is believed to have been caused by damage to a fibre cable on SH2 north of Tauranga. Chorus' technicians are currently onsite, they have identified the location of the cut and are working to isolate it before initiating repairs.
"We understand this will be frustrating for our impacted customers and would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused."
