The Otumoetai Pool is on target to re-open this Wednesday.
Tauranga City Aquatics manager Steve Edgecombe says a new pump will begin to be installed this morning and the pool will hopefully reopen on Wednesday.
'This is still weather dependant but provided we don't get heavy rain it should go to plan.”
The pool closed since the existing fault in the bore pump, reported on Friday caused the pool to drop in temperature.
Contractors pulled the pump from underground on Saturday where it was discovered it had become clogged with stones, breaking the pump shaft and destroying the unit.

5 day fix vs a 4 year still no fix!

So how is Otumoetai pool much more important than Te Pukes pool??? How many other pools are there in the Tauranga area that the residents could use instead? Many im sure, yet here in Te Puke, where there are NO other pools around, we have waited and waited for over 4 years for a leak to be fixed. Every year they say "It should be ready for summer"...Summer arrives and still no pool let alone an explanation. Once again our kids will have NOTHING local to do this summer. But obviously its all good, cause Otumoetai's pool will be up and running again by Wednesday! #shakeshead
Different Councils

Shell, remember Te Puke is part of the Western Bay Distict Council and all Tauranga Pools part of the Tauranga City Council. Do not get confused.

Last time I checked, Te Puke was the domain of the Western Bay Council - not TCC. In my opinion, TCAL do a very good job operating the pools and despite the costly excercise around the Mt Hot Pools, are considered very sharp operators within the aquatic industry.

Nie thing to say Gordo, but would you care to explain what actually they have done: right, wonderfully, best, what operating part is actually 'good'. Yes I agree that TCAL are very 'sharp' indeed, a good example is that they have all managed to keep there jobs and with more pay then ever before even when many millions of rates money has been spent on a number of dead ducks, int he real world they would all be long gone, none of this adds up at all.
