Glowing skin, straight teeth and perfect hair – all of this could be yours, according to Mount Maunganui College year 11 student Piri Pearsall-Akuira.

So what do you have to do to achieve such wonderful outer beauty? Well that's easy – just tune into Piri's and her mate Luke Williams' radio show L&P on Thursday's at 1.30pm on 107.1 FM!

'If you stream our show that [beautification] all happens in two-three business days.”

Sounds legit!

L&P was born after Mount Maunganui College started up their own radio station, giving students a space to create their own shows to talk about what's on their minds and share the music they love.

On L&P, Piri says: 'We have a really big range of music that we like”.

Luke says he's a rock kind of guy.

'I'm basic – I just like Radiohead.”

Piri, on the other hand, listens to grunge, R&B and Neo soul. Piri's favourite artist is ELIZA.

'She's like a Neo soul artist and R&B singer. She's really cool. I found out about her a few months ago and listen to her a lot.”

Fresh Tea

Over to chit chat – you can expect a mix of yarns from Piri and Luke from movie reviews to conspiracy theories.

'We have so much exciting things to talk about so everybody should be listening because we're going to be dropping some major ‘tea' on the show. It'll be crazy and only a few people know,” says Piri.

If you weren't already aware – ‘tea' is slang for gossip.

'This is global tea, its school tea, it's everything – I have stuff on everyone, not bad stuff, I just have some crazy stories to tell,” says Piri.

Some conversations are of- limits however, such as the pinnacle of the college experience – school uniforms!

'I've been warned not to talk about that…the principal listens so we can't say anything too controversial.”

Classics only

With a show named after the Kiwi fizzy classic, of course they drink L&P right? The answer – yes – but on occasion.

'I'm too poor,” says Piri. 'I think L&P and Sprite are my ‘go to' drinks – the rest are like American kaka.”

Luke jumps in: 'Sprite is American!”

Piri responds: 'I know! I was talking about L&P because it's the best.”

Glad we got that cleared!

So in this world of social media where you can edit and re-take videos and photos until you have something ‘perfect' – I asked Luke and Piri how things are going live on air?

'Not very well,” says Luke.

'It's going well! What do you mean Luke? If we make a mistake we just keep going,” says Piri.

Luke agrees with this.

'If we were perfectionists we would've given up.”

Piri adds: 'I think the cool thing about radio is it keeps moving…you've got to be real.”

Tune in at 1.30pm on 107.1FM to hear Mount Maunganui student's shows live on air!
