The vertical skate ramp at Blake Park in Mount Maunganui will be demolished next week.
Tauranga City Council reports the old ramp is being removed due to safety concerns about the condition of the ramp surface.
The skate ramp at Blake Park will be demolished next week.
The ramp will be renewed and the procurement process for that is underway.
Tauranga City Council has also decided to postpone the planting of Queen Palms and Katsura trees to replace the Illawarra flame trees along Grey Street until the next planting season.
Five Illawarra flame trees were removed due to the roots damaging infrastructure along the road.
The postponement is to allow council staff extra time to assess how best to handle the problem of bird droppings that has been affecting Grey Street.
There are currently eight Katsura already well-established in the city centre. In the meantime the empty tree pits in Grey Street have been filled in and cobbles will be laid next week.
This information from this week's Tauranga City Council weekly bulletin for the week beginning Monday, September 17, published below.
