The Regional Environment Network's annual hui is set for June 10, and the organisers are inviting all changemakers and do-ers to come along for a day of inspiration, collaboration and sharing.
This year's theme is hope and resilience, and the REN is planning a program packed with great speakers and workshops for attendees to enjoy.
A spokesperson for the event says they are hosting guest speakers who will bring an interesting range of topics.
'Opening and facilitating for us, Leo Murray, founder of Why Waste, will also be a guest speaker discussing change-making and how to think global, act local.
'Amy Board will be joining us from Mana Kai Mana Ora Western Bay and Tauranga Seed Library, to talk about Food Sovereignty, Food Security, and Food Resilience.
'She'll also facilitate a fun and interesting seed workshop. Professor Bruce Clarkson needs little introduction as he is recognised as one of New Zealand's foremost authorities on ecological restoration.
'His research has guided biodiversity and restoration projects nationally and he is the elected Chair of the Australasian Chapter of the International Society of Restoration and appointed by the Minister of Conservation to be a member of the Oversight Group for the Aotearoa NZ Biodiversity Strategy and Wildlife Act Review Strategic Oversight Group.
'If you haven't had the chance to hear our guest speakers before, you certainly won't be disappointed.”
Tickets are $10, and include a catered morning tea from The Daily Café.
'We want great food for wellbeing in tough times. There is increasing chronic need for ready-made food for our struggling families, elderly and those living alone.
'Before Covid we provided 60 meals per month, we now average 250. We want to be well positioned to meet acute needs, as we have experienced these last two years.”
The Regional Environment Network Hui 2023 will be taking place on Saturday, June 10 at The Orchard Church, 20 Macloughlin Drive, Te Puke, from 9am to 3pm.
