A fun family time while learning about all the well-being resources available in Merivale, Gate Pa and Greerton is the focus of an open day for whānau in Tauranga South today.
Get to know all of Te Manu Toroa's services, while keeping tamariki entertained so you can participate in fun activities and games, says a Te Manu Toroa spokesperson.
"Come down for some kai, giveaways and prizes!"
From 10am to 3pm, the free open whānau day will feature a kidz zone, before school checks, wuick workout sessions, a Kaumātua area, Mirimiri sessions, Rongoā Māori, glu shots, childhood immunisations and vaccine boosters.
"[The] open day is for whānau to see what resources and whanau ora and hauora - overall well-being - is available in Merivale/Gate Pa/Greerton.
"Our Tauranga Moana City Clinic will be open to immunise anyone, even those not enrolled with us."
Immunisations are free for those who are eligible.
Other services and activities will also be present.
"Tauranga City Council will also be present at a stall talking about the Vital Update survey."
Te Manu Toroa - which means 'the albatross that glides across the ocean', was originally known as Western Iwi Health. It was established in 1997 to provide a kaupapa Māori model of health care that integrated and linked services to Māori in the Western Bay of Plenty region.
Since establishing a GP clinic, Te Manu Toroa has grown and now provides two GP services at Tauranga Moana City and Te Akau Hauora, Pēpi Ora/Well Child, Kaupapa Māori Nurse Services, Oral Health Programs, and Mental Health and Whānau Centred Services.
The Open Whānau Day is being held from 10am - 3pm on Saturday May 27 at Te Manu Toroa, 11 Tebbs Lane, Gate Pa, Tauranga (off Courtney Road).
