I agree with everything you say but would add backward & selfish as well. They seem opposed to anything which would bring Tauranga out of the Dark Age, would benefit any but themselves, especially if those who would benefit are other than white, old, middle-class. Tauranga could be a great multicultural, multilingual city if those fossils did not have such power & just retired to their muli- million dollar properties & left those with foresight, drive & an understanding of the modern world to get on with it.
