Re: ‘I just don’t understand why’ (Letters page 16, The Weekend Sun July 28 edition).
I agree with Jackie and Neil Stewart’s letter. But, actually, I do [understand]...it’s political correctness run wild. And the Tauranga City Council reply is just a politically correct cop-out.
As the well-known commentator and author Amy Brooke says: “We are more than at the crossroads in this country, and any political party who does not oppose co-governance – and is not committed to supporting the renaming of all the institutions as they were, and should be, in English – does not deserve our vote”. Am I guessing you're quoting Amy Brooke, children's author, climate-change denier and general supporter of right-wing causes and conspiracies? Interesting quote: "as they were, and should be" - "as they were" I get but "and should be" - really? Sounds like a very colonial perspective...
Good on you Pete

The more often NZ’s attention is drawn to the little wanted “co-governance, and how it would disadvantage all of NZ, the better. A coalition government may be co-governance in a way but at least it will have been voted in by a majority of NZ citizens.
