Re: ‘I just don’t understand why’ (Letters page 16, The Weekend Sun, July 28 edition). I sympathise with Jackie and Neil Stewart. Of course those who choose to replace some English words with Maori words in their English-language communications are entitled to do so. However, at the same time, others are entitled to consider the bastardisation of English, which is a beautiful and international language, unnecessary and disrespectful.
