A special meeting on Wednesday celebrating 100 years of the Royal Forest & Bird Protection Society in New Zealand will be featuring national conservation leader and guest speaker Nicola Toki.

Hosted by Forest and Bird Tauranga, the meeting will be held at 6.30pm on Wednesday August 30, at the Waikato University Campus in Durham Street, Tauranga, and everyone is welcome, says Forest & Bird Te Puke Branch Chair Carole Long.

“Do join us – Nicola is an excellent speaker and has made a big impression with the recent TV series on Endangered Species,” says Carole.

Nicola is the CEO of Forest & Bird and has been hosting the TVNZ 1’s ‘Endangered Species Aotearoa With WWF’.  In the series, Nicola and co-host and comedian Pax Assadi traverse New Zealand including islands like Motuara Island and the Chathams, talking with rangers, scientists, iwi and farmers who are helping protect our country’s endangered creatures.

Nicola describes the show as a “homegrown Indiana Jones adventure mixed with a David Attenborough documentary with a few LOLs along the way”.

She has also had a role with the Department of Conservation as their threatened species ambassador, and appeared on ‘Good Morning’ to talk about the nature show ‘Meet the Locals’, and also been a speaker on RNZ with ‘Critter of The Week’ with ‘Afternoons with Jesse Mullligan’.

“Forest & Bird in the Bay of Plenty has a long history of conservation programmes and campaigns and are very keen to share the history of the Society with members and supporters,” says Carole.
